DESCRIPTION:
The "Symphonic Poem 'Αnerada' for Piano and Orchestra", composed by Professor Andreas G. Οrphanides, was performed by the Symphony Orchestra of Georg Ots Tallinn Music College (Conductor: Jüri-Ruut Kangur, Soloist (piano): Hando Nahkur) in the "EURASHE 20th Anniversary Concert" at Estonia Concert Hall, Tallinn, on 15 October 2010. It outlines musically the mythological figure and action of "Aνεραδα", which is "νεράϊδα" (fairy) in Cyprus' legendary tradition. Being a mythological figure, "Ανεράδα" personifies and brings into Cypriot reality multiple identities and feelings: romanticism, love, beauty, grace, fear, mystery, hope, courage, which are rendered through the co-existence and continuous dialogue between the piano and the instruments of the orchestra. In addition, for the composer, "Ανεράδα" assumes another symbolic meaning as well, that of Cyprus' freedom ("ελευθερία"), which becoming more and more evident and active as the symphonic poem progresses, she finally prevails, and in an epic manner she gives messages of struggle, optimism and justice.
