The Afro Acid label, formed by legendary Acid House creator / innovator / originator, DJ Pierre was developed from his Afro Acid concept, and pushes the boundaries to open doors for talent that might otherwise be both sadly and wrongly ignored.

Xenia Beliayeva, sometimes known as Xenbel originally hails from Moscow. Since the mid nineties, her life has been linked with her deepest passion: music. Whether in the scope of a traineeship for VIVA TV or a part time job in a CD rental agency in Cologne, as a freelance promoter for renowned labels such as Playhouse, Klang Elektronik and Mute, in the scope of her label management for Lone Records or as product manager of Ladomat for many years, her destiny brought her into connection with the music business time and again. So it was only logical that during this time she also found her own musical language. Since then she's presented her sound as a DJ, most notably as resident at her Kill Them All events in Hamburg or on her internet radio show.

But with many noteworthy releases on Anthony Rother's Datapunk and the uncompromising Shitkatapult, amongst others, her musical aesthetic as a producer also draws upon the effect of her incomparable voice. No less so, than here on 'XTC' where her deliberately monotone delivery still gives rise to sultry moments, as you get lost in the beat.

DJ Pierre's Acid Face Remix conveys that formidable squelch we're all waiting for. Starting deep and building to an intoxicating crescendo, his play with sounds displays a natural talent and his ability to ignore limits, yet still put his stamp on proceedings so that from the onset we know it's DJ Pierre, is quite unique.

Also invited to give an interpretation is Chicago's Angel Alanis, known for a plethora of slamming releases on labels like Tresor, International House Records, Impact Mechanics, Tronic and Subspace as well as his own A-Squared and the recently formed Home Audio and Slap Jaxx labels. His dark techno remix sits well on this varied release. While fellow Slap Jaxx-er, Greg Grajek from Denver, Colorado, who is most certainly a rising techno/minimal artist, also lends us his stripped down dub slant.
