DESCRIPTION:
The "Rubic's Tube Concept" is a concept created by the French musician Xavier Quérou.

It is about creating a piece of music strictly following a 5 "golden rules" guideline :

- The music has to be a cover of an undisputable famous hit (aka "tube" in French).
- The hit will be considered as representing the different facets of the well-known "Rubik's Cub", which will be undone and rebuilt again : thus you will be first exposed to a music piece immediately recognizable, then it will be gradually taken apart harmonically, melodically and rhythmically, without never losing its entity (the cub remains the same even if the facets are mixed up, in the same way as the hit remains a hit). Then the hit will be displayed again into a consistent way (even partially) at the end of the music piece.
- The music will be handled only with live acoustic instruments.
- The concept designer has to play each of the single instruments under use and has to be able to record the music by himself.
- The only permitted IT manipulation for the achievement of the music piece is the re-recording . Editing the music with a software such as "Protools" in order to correct pitch or time placement is strictly forbidden.



Le "Rubic's Tube Concept" est un concept crée par le musicien français Xavier Quérou.

Il s'agit de réaliser une pièce musicale en respectant une charte avec 5 "règles d'or" à suivre absolument :

- La musique doit être une reprise (un "cover") d'un tube (un "hit") au succès incontestable.
- Le tube sera alors considéré comme constituant les facettes du fameux Rubik's Cube, qu'on devra défaire puis reconstruire :
ainsi il y aura une exposition musicale immédiatement reconnaissable du morceau, puis il sera progressivement déstructuré harmoniquement, mélodiquement, et rythmiquement, mais sans jamais perdre son entité (le cube reste un cube même si les facettes sont mélangées - le tube restera un tube de la même façon). Puis le tube sera réexposé de façon cohérente (même partielle) en fin de morceau.
- La musique n'utilisera que des instruments «acoustiques».
- Le concepteur devra jouer chaque instrument utilisé et devra pouvoir enregistrer toute la musique seul.
- La seule manœuvre informatique autorisée pour la réalisation de la musique sera le re-recording. L'édition via un logiciel type «protools» pour corriger la mise en place ou la justesse sera donc formellement interdite.
