Long Gone

Cherry Red Lips like she saw in a magazine
Looking way too hot to have barely turned 15
Bobby's at the door while daddy does a background check
Momma says, "You ain't goin' anywhere dressed like that!"

Then the screen door slammed like a shotgun,
Just to give them a piece of her mind.
Motor's revvin' so high, needle's at the red line
You better just step aside!

'Cause she was Long Gone, long gone
Feelin' more like a woman than she ever had before!
Long gone, long gone
Ain't daddy's little girl, can't tell her what to do no more!

They hit the road and had a baby girl at 17.
There were clothes to wash, mouths to feed, and Bobby started gettin' real mean.
He stumbled through the door for the last time,
When he saw that her bags were packed.
And Bobby yelled, "You ain't goin' anywhere! GET ON BACK!"

But then the screen door slammed like a shot gun
Just to give him a piece of her mind
Baby's in the backseat, hit the gas with both feet
You better just step aside.

'Cause she was long gone, long gone
Feelin' more like a woman than she ever had before
Long gone, long gone
Ain't daddy's little girl, can't tell her what to do no more!

They had no place to go, mom and daddy said, "Come back home,
You can stay here, til you get back on your feet."
Then the days turned into years, and the worst of all their fears
Momma's baby girl was now a teen.
...and she had

Ruby red lips like she saw in a magazine
Lookin' way too hot to have barely turned 16.
Now Jimmy's at the door while Grandpa does a background check.
And momma said, "You ain't goin' anywhere dressed like that!"

But then the screen door slammed like a shotgun!
Just to give 'em a piece of her mind.
What goes around is gonna come around, Ma
You better just stay inside!

'Cause she was long gone, long gone
Feelin' more like a woman than she ever had before
Long gone, long gone
Ain't daddy's little girl, can't tell her what to do
Ain't mommas little girl, can't tell her how to choose
Ain't daddy's little girl, can't tell her what to do no more!
