WORMS OF THE EARTH / THE SURROGATE split cd

Worms and The Surrogate offer up 3 tracks each of solid sludge rock inspired by dreaming. Worms Of The Earth from Melbourne brings together current and ex-members of In Name & Blood, The Abandonment, Terror Firma, Whitehorse, Chase Manhattan and Synthesist playing gruff, pummeling, melodic sludge metal while The Surrogate from Queensland play drifting, thoughtful, heavy rock styles with nods to Isis, and the like. A great starting point for both bands.

UPCOMING SHOWS

"WORMS OF THE EARTH: WE BARELY KNEW YE, AND WHY WOULD WE WANT TO

"Do not go gentle into that good night,

Old age should burn and rave at close of day;

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,

Because their words had forked no lightning they

Do not go gentle into that good night."

- Dylan Thomas

"You suffer, but why?"

- Napalm Death

"Shit in my mouth so I can get a taste for life"

- Agents of Abhorrence

"After two years, twenty-odd shows (half of which were in adelaide for some reason), thirty-odd different bass rigs, three pageninetynine tattoos, one demo, one split recording with The Surrogate, one marriage, one edge break, and a lot of flyers with dicks on them, worms of the earth, aka sperms of the smurf aka my worm has girth, are playing their last show.

"Formed out of the ashes of a bunch of bands I don't give a crap about and/or actually flat out hated with the intention of 'sounding like, you know, like mastodon but, like, slow' and managing to in the end sound nothing like that, the band garnered warm critical reception with their heady mix of grunge-rock riffs stolen from terrible bands like alice in chains, unnecessary use of effects pedals and musical ineptitude. Plaudits earned such as 'the bass sounds really good' (my boss) and 'I like that guitar bit at the end but why is that man always yelling?' (my mum) seemed to indicate a bright future but alas it was not to be as various members decided they would rather play pop punk and/or blog about how the others are a bunch of money-grubbing capitalist pieces of shit out to make money off the kids.

"All the brightest candles in the winds of change burn out bright. And like sands through the hourglass, or the confusion of metaphors, there will be no phoenix rising from the ashes in the form of a reunion show. Those ashes will be put into an urn and left on the shelf where the cat can't get to them until someone accidentally knocks it off and cleans it up with a dustbuster and/or chops it up into a mix and smokes it for a dare.

"Worms play their last show this friday night (April 17th) at the arthouse. In the true tradition of no one, most especially the band themselves, giving a fuck, they're playing second. And Corey thought it was on saturday"
