DESCRIPTION:
A couple of young ragtimers play one of the most popular songs to come out of the pre-ragtime 1890s. As Ryan mentions in his introduction, this song was so popular that people began to despise it -- and that's before the days of radio and commercial recordings. It was just performed by everyone, to the point of over-saturation!

or see the version Ryan mentions with the Bromo-Seltzer ad and no composer or date:

(each version has some different verses, so they're both worth a look, to read the lyrics)
Visit Ramona's YouTube channel for more of her playing. She transcribes a lot of early recordings.
