Doom metal isn't a fad -- it's something that obsesses its disciples to near fanaticism. These are the roots of Hampshire, UK's Witchsorrow, enraptured puritans of doom, picking up the torch born by Saint Vitus, Count Raven, Pentagram, Cathedral, Electric Wizard and Reverend Bizarre before them. These bands searched tirelessly to find an equal to Black Sabbath's tolling bell and funerary tritone, and the next stage in metal's doomy darkness, and so to do Witchsorrow.

With riffs forged of pure doom fire and an apocalyptic, misanthropic lyrical stance, Witchsorrow's latest album God Curse Us (Rise Above, 2012) is about as doomy as it gets, and they'll be summoning the apocalypse at Roadburn 2013 as part of Jus Oborn's The Electric Acid Orgy. Between them, Necroskull (guitar /vocals), Emily Witch (bass) and Wilbrahammer (drums) will bring forth heavy metal's darkest side, and invite you to stare into the void with them.
