Know almost nothing about this 45, and couldn't face digging through the endless crates to find it in order to grab a label shot, so you'll have to make do with some gorgeous Tennessee countryside instead!

I'm guessing it's the same Mickey Salter who later made a fairly lame mainstream country and western LP called 'This Country Boy Loves You', though this track is from perhaps a good decade earlier.

A spooked hard-edged country funker with dark noir edges, this is a classic tale of a boy who's seen hard times in the big bad city heading back home to the countryside to get his mind together again.

Whilst Kenny Rogers' early work is eulogized and resurrected, the fact that this remains unheralded and unheard remains little short of criminal in my humble opinion!
