Full Band Digital Mix Bounce to Tape - Is It Magic? (Analog Tape Shootout #4) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 08, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Does a full band digital mix become "magical" when it is copied to analog tape? Or is the analog tape mystique just hype? You decide!!

In this episode, #4 of the Analog Tape Shootout series, I take a digital mix of a Fervent Send song (way cool Prog-Rock!), and send it to my trusty Teac A3440 4-track reel deck, calibrated to 2 different levels (-18dB and -21 dB). I then copied the 2 tape recordings back to the computer. This video compares each version so that you can hear the difference (if there is one).

Here are video index times so you can easily skip between the digital mix, and the -18 and -21 tape bounces:

Digital Mix: 2:46
-18dB Tape Bounce: 3:50
-21dB Tape Bounce: 4:54
