BOOTS & BREW COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL
--TO BENEFIT KERN COUNTY 999 FOUNDATION'S
OFFICER DAVID NELSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP--
TAKING PLACE WEDNESDAY, MAY 18 AT TEMBLOR BREWING COMPANY

In honor of National Police Week, established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy, the first annual Boots & Brew Country Music Festival will take place Wednesday, May 18 from 5-9pm at Temblor Brewing Company (3200 Buck Owens Blvd., Bakersfield, CA 93308). The concert event--produced by the family of fallen Bakersfield police officer David Nelson--will feature performances by local Southern California musicians American Stone, Doug C and the Blacklisted, Joshua Wade Aigner, among others. The show is free and open to the public.

Bakersfield Police Department officer David Nelson was killed in the line of duty on June 26, 2015 in a vehicle crash following a high-speed pursuit in NE Bakersfield. In his memory, the Nelson family has partnered with the Kern County 999 Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization assisting the families of Kern County Peace Officers who have died in the line of duty since 2007, to manage and operate a scholarship fund to be offered to graduating high school students of Kern High School District. All proceeds raised via the Boots & Brew Country Music Festival will go directly to the Officer David Nelson Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Attendees have the opportunity to purchase a limited edition commemorative Boots & Brew snap-back trucker hat.The hats will only be sold in advance through the free FanFlex app, available in the App Store on iPhones/iPads (http://bit.ly/fanflex-itunes). All hats will be distributed on-site at the event (purchasers must come in person to pick up) and multiple quantities can be purchased. FanFlex is a technology platform that allows musicians to connect with their fans and venues, and was developed by Officer Nelson's oldest brother, Erik Nelson. Unfortunately, the platform is yet to exist on Android, so if interested in purchasing a hat, contact a friend with an iPhone or iPad to do so. Philanthro-Pint brews from the Temblor Brewing Company will also be available for purchase at the show, as well as raffle tickets to win various prizes generously donated by local businesses.

For those interested in donating to the Officer David Nelson Memorial Scholarship Fund, but not available to attend the event, contributions may be made online via Paypal at http://bit.ly/Kern999. There is also a line of customizable tank tops, t-shirts and sweatshirts dedicated to Officer Nelson available now at http://skreened.com/eow062615. A portion of the merchandise sales goes to the scholarship fund as well.

In addition to the Boots & Brew concert event, there will be two additional local National Police Week ceremonies honoring Officer Nelson, to be held the following morning on Thursday, May 19. The first will be held by the Bakersfield Police Department and take place at 7am in front of BPD (1601 Truxtun Avenue) and the second by the Kern County Sheriff's Office at 12pm in front of the Liberty Bell (1415 Truxtun Avenue). Both ceremonies are open to the public.

Thank you to sponsoring host Temblor Brewing Company for their contributions to make Boots & Brew possible. The 14,000 square foot state-of-the-art brewery, kitchen and event and concert venue is operated by a local ownership group consisting of passionate beer lovers who have gathered together to bring a high quality destination brewery experience to Bakersfield, CA. And a thank you to American Stone, Doug C and the Blacklisted, and Joshua Aigner for donating their time and talents to the cause.
