Here's an Alabama based outfit based around the presence of guitarist Wayne Perkins. A six-string bender from way back, Wayne has played with just about everyone in the business, as well as being associated with some of the biggest names out there. Some of his credits include playing live and on albums for Bob Marley, The Rolling Stones, Lonnie Mack, Leon Russell, as well as his own projects including Smith Perkins And Smith when based in the UK, and this band Crimson Tide. During 1977, the Alabama Power Band as they were known then, were gigging in their hometown of Birmingham, where Wayne's brother Dale was the drummer. The brotherly connection saw Wayne join the band, change names to Crimson Tide, and negotiate a deal with Capitol. The band released two albums, their self titled debut produced by the well known pairing of Carter and Richard Landis (LeRoux, Stone Fury) came out in 1978, and this second effort 'Reckless Love' a year later, produced by Donald 'Duck' Dunn and Steve Cropper..
