Autumn Fire ~ Described as a cinepoem in the introduction. The couple in Weinberg’s film may be married, may be lovers. They are apart, she, in the country; he, in the city. Each, really, inhabits her or his solitude, because the environment of each, a projection of her or his loneliness during this separation of theirs, characterizes both as lost instead of locating or situating them. The film’s lyricism posits the primacy of the pair’s feelings.

Herman G. Weinberg ~ (Aug. 9, 1908 - Nov 7 1983) Film historian and English-subtitler Herman G. Weinberg also was a filmmaker. Mr. Weinberg entered the field of translation through his initial interest in music. In 1926, he was an aspiring concert violinist making his living by transcribing the symphonic scores from silent German films for the string quartet at the Fifth Avenue Playhouse in Manhattan. When the first German movies with sound arrived, Mr. Weinberg used his fluency in the language to translate the dialogue. Worked in Many Languages.

Mr. Weinberg ultimately translated more than 300 films. Mr. Weinberg also wrote often on film, even after he had retired from translating in the late 1960's because of his declining health. He wrote seven books.
