Presentation by Johnny Kai (Music Foundation of Hawaii) to The WAITIKI 7, winners of the 2009 "Exotica Music" category in the Hawaii Music Awards. Award presentation followed by a performance of Quiet Village with Harold Chang, original percussionist in the Martin Denny and Arthur Lyman groups.

"Adventures in Paradise," the WAITIKI 7's debut album has been critically and popularly acclaimed worldwide since its August '09 release. Nate Chinen wrote, "If there's room for a post-millennial exotica revival, this is the band to beat." JAZZIZ praised the group for its "substantial improvisational firepower," and Mother Jones beamed that the music "harkens back to the golden-age of exotica, when lounge music giants Martin Denny and Les Baxter roamed the earth."
