DESCRIPTION: This song was written by Kent Besocke and Steve Wilke about the tragedy of the SS Central America. The ship sank in a hurricane in September 1857, along with more than 550 passengers and crew and 30,000 pounds of gold, contributing to the Panic of 1857. As the ship sank, it was said the passengers remaining on deck were seen skipping gold coins ( playing "ducks and drakes") across the stormy seas!
