Bangles - James (live @ Cathay De Grande, Hollywood CA 7/31/83)

The Bangles perform an early version of the song "James", with Vicki Peterson singing lead. Susanna Hoffs would provide the main voice on the recorded version for their 1984 album 'All Over The Place'.

Recorded live at the Cathay De Grande in Hollywood CA on July 31, 1983. Sharing a bill with Black Flag (!) and Redd Kross (whose singer Jeffrey McDonald was dating Bangles guitarist Vicki Peterson at the time) the show does a great job of representing the band in all their sloppy garage band glory at the height of their paisley underground notoriety in L.A.. Also notable about this show is that it is one of the first performances with Michael Steele, who had just replaced Annette Zilinskas on bass.
