Renée Anne Louprette, a New York City based Organist, recorded 2 pieces for video on the newly restored pipe organ at Our Lady of Refuge Church in Brooklyn on September 6, 2013.
This video features a work by J.S. Bach from a group of pieces known as "Great Eighteen Chorale Preludes". It is based on the German Choral "Von Gott will ich nicht lassen" which translates to: "I shall not abandon God. For He does not abandon me,".

The melody to the choral (or hymn) is played on the pedals (with the feet) while 3 voices (musical lines) accompany the choral on the keyboards (played with the hands). These 18 Choral Preludes were composed during the last ten years of Bach's life while he was the Music Director/Organist at St. Thomas Church (Thomaskirche) in Leipzig, Germany.

Before this organ was restored, complicated music like this could not be played because so much of the pipe organ did not work correctly. Pipes either played when they should not or did not play, and there was the constant rushing sound of air leaking from the organ. The organ sounds fantastic now that it has been restored. This restoration was made possible with the gifts from over 1500 people from around the world. Many of the donors have never been to Brooklyn.

The restoration of this organ exceeds expectations. The work was carried out by two large American Organ Builders - A.R. Schopp's Sons, Inc and Quimby Pipe Organs, Inc.
