Vandal’s latest release, ‘The Rebirth of a Classic Obsession’ , evolves into a complex disc focusing on his experiences since ‘The Nomadic Addict’ took him to Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, China and Mongolia. Having the chance to perform, collaborate and travel Vandal explores his music in a broader more global sense, delivering cuts featuring International artists and rapping in different languages. ‘The Rebirth of a Classic Obsession’ evokes images of the exotic and the familiar and illustrates cinematically the idea of Urban Camping.
Urban Camper Entertainment, formed in 2001, is the brainchild of Jason and the voice of his alter ego. His first CD release (UCE013 - 2003), entitled ‘The Nomadic Addict’, is a unique collection of works displaying Vandal’s production and vocals and was voted one of the Top 10 Albums of 2003 by EYE Magazine’s Errol Nazareth. Where ‘The Nomadic Addict’ was a refreshing introduction to say the least, ‘The Rebirth of a Classic Obsession’ continues along same the path blending World music and Hip Hop together as the sonic bed to Vandal’s rhymes and is chalk full of tales of travel and his life experiences.
Jason is more than just a musician though. He is an entrepreneur with vision and ambition. Whether it’s producing radio for CBC, or his own music videos, Jason is constantly moving forward with innovation and perseverance. And with the world becoming a much smaller place, Jason is planning to put to use his talents as a video artist, musician and traveller and bring the world ‘Urban Camping’, a complete multimedia package documenting the life of an Urban Camper, displaying his abilities and encapsulating his visions. Through the release of ‘The Rebirth of a Classic Obsession’ and the initiatives of Urban Camper Entertainment, Jason hopes to educate people around the world as well as learn from them, to share common passions and establish a network to allow others to take a bigger step into the world. A step that will also lead to the release of more music and the opening of many more doors.
