League of Legends Rap Video || Awk & Vandal - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 08, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Awk (Dr. Awkward) and Vandal (Vince Vandal) are back to the world of video game raps with a new take on League of Legends. Inspired by Ashe - The Frost Archers and Queen of the Freljord, they crafted a song from the point of view of the young leader.

Before she was Queen of the Freljord Ashe's mother led one of three warring tribes of the Freljord, The Avarosan. Upon her mother's murder, Ashe was thrust into leadership at the age of 15. Over-her-head and Out-of-her-league, Ashe set out to accomplish the impossible task of reuniting the Freljord under one banner.

Music Inspiration:
The Freljord is a treacherous place full of danger and death for the weak. With a heavy Nordic fantasy inspiration, the Freljord tells a familiar story of barbarian warfare. The factions of the Freljord sparked a parallel to the warring tribes within the borders of Africa, as well. In an attempt to marry the two cultures, Vandal sampled the original Riot Games, Nordic Inspired music of the Freljord, while Awk crafted African Tribal chants to create a very unique experience. As rap is a huge part of the community in LoL, we wanted to do something different than to reference gameplay elements. Runeterra has a lot to offer in the way of lore and we set out to touch on just a small bit of that rich history, while adding our own take on the source material. Hope you enjoy it!

Lyrics:

=Verse 1=
We are the children of the Iceborn people
Born into wars from the one's sworn regal
At one time peaceful, Sisters of a tribe
A family defiled by an unseen evil
Divided they bicker over thrones, tear kindred from their homes
Kill brothers on our ancestors bones
Nobody seems to see the madness in all this
A once great kingdom has fallen
Where's the line drawn? When does death have it's swan song?
How could everything have gone wrong?
We were the children of favor when gods walked the plains
How can we be all that remains?
Are we less than we were then? Are our neighbors not our kin?
Should we be punished for our mothers and their sins?
We are the remnant of what was a once proud past
And a future that nears our grasp

=Chorus=
(Tribal Chants)
One People, One Sky, One Destiny, One Tribe

=Verse 2=
Believe me, nobody ever has it easy
It was in war, the word "Peace" found meaning
A youth dreaming of a land without loss
Of a people not forsaken by their gods
Still we stand in shadows of Avarosa
Death keeps us sober, extinction it creeps ever closer
We are the children of winter, orphans of a conflict
Look to what the Iceborn accomplished
As kids we heard hymns of the Howling Abyss
Our minds would get lost in the sights of the Cliffs
A fortress, ornate and gorgeous, unrivaled
And united they vied for survival
We're them and well more, scholars to sell swords
Hope for the future, Champions of Freljord
I will stand by my people's side
One people, we're all one tribe

=Chorus=

=Breakdown=
This cant be who we are
We are greater than what we know
The sum of all our parts will never be as big
United we stand as one...
(Chorus)
This can't be who we are
Cause we are greater than what we know
And united(x3) we stand as one

=Verse 3=
Strength. It's what the hardship breeds
The lost have found peace, but the heart still bleeds
For a day when torment isn't our life's superlative
And a mom's murder isn't preferred to the alternative
And that's a hard truth from a scarred youth
And if you're weak the pain will ruin and discard you
And if you leave the world exactly as it's given
Explain then what's the point of all this living?
See the monuments of a bygone age
Of a people that fractured, as we turned the page
To be less than...
That begs the question: How many deaths 'til we learn our lesson?
Are we not more? Is this everything we fought for?
Look to our fathers who we honor cause they sought more
From the ruins we will build what we let fall
The future belongs to us all.

=Chorus=
