The Underground Orchestra (London) - In The Hall Of The Mountain King - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 29, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
First ever live performance by the orchestra made up of strangers met travelling as passengers on the London Underground.

On 1st January 2012, Shaun Buswell started a musical challenge to create an orchestra made up of musicians he met as strangers whilst travelling on the London Underground. 1 year later, on 26th January 2013, the orchestra performed at Shepherd's Bush Empire, in aid of childrens charity Daytrippers (http://www.daytrippers.org.uk), becoming the largest group of musicians to ever take the stage there.

The orchestra had never all met in person until the day of the concert, and the conductor (Ellie Verkerk) had never conducted a full orchestra like this before. This piece by Grieg (In The Hall Of The Mountain King) was the first ever piece of music performed by the orchestra. Look how they go from nervous to happy once it's completed without a real hitch! :)

Filmed by Dead Monkey Media & Doug Kirby (Yantra).
