This is a funk rhythm sprinkled with a bunch of pentatonic fill lines. I also brush over some more octave ideas so you can definitely hear that Benson sound.

You will notice that the rhythm follows the four chords in the song and in between each chord we use that pentatonic scale to give it an up beat funk-a-delic feel! Check out good old Captain Fingers (Lee Ritenour) for these type of rhythms. You also notice that I use my thumb to grab these barre chords. This leaves the rest of my fingers to riff with. It is not quite the traditional way to grip these chords but if you check out some of your favorite players you will notice that a lot of them use these grips. At the end of the rhythm I outline the chord tones with octaves. This keeps that movement going.
