Photography Documentary: HARV KAHN, THE RAILROAD PHOTOGRAPHER - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 03, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
At last! I finally finished this documentary as a dedication to my late great friend Harv Kahn (passed away in 2006 age 59) and his wife Lynne (passed in 2005 age 57). Both of them wonderful photographers.
I think this is the first of it's kind: a documentary about a railroad photographer! Maybe I'll start a trend, cause I know there were several fantastic RR photographers.
My music does play a part here in the documentary as background music to his images of trains. It consists mostly of my relaxing-meditation music. This train video documentary is for all the rail fans world wide.

Here is a documentary/slide show featuring the railroad photography of Harv Kahn. His images need to be exposed to the world, so folks who are interested in railroads can enjoy them. He photographed a wide range of railroads mainly from the 1970's and 80's. However, he did photograph up until he passed away in 2006.
He left me with his railroad images and I have been the caretaker, and it was a goal of mine to organize these in such a way as to present Harv Kahn's work to a wider audience and what can be bigger than the world-wide web? I need you to help spread the word. Let's see how big this can get.
He photographed about 30,000 images and in this 30min documentary/slide show you will see a couple hundred or so.
I have now compiled a disc of 2000 of his best images which I have now made available to the public. The profit will be used to publish his work in a variety of ways: a premium web page, a hard cover book, and framing some of his work for exhibit. The sad thing is, these are only a handful of his vast collection. I so very much want to show you more. There are great images yet to be seen.
I personally don't know anyone who went out to photograph trains with such zeal, passion and enthusiasm, and who was a man on a mission across two solid decades.
Harv got me into railroad photography and taught me much. I remember the slide shows he had which included popcorn, pizza and soda pop. Not to forget lots of laughs. He ignited a flame in me that has been burning ever since. A passion for railroad preservation. I have been involved with photography and building models since 1993 and built two large museum displays for two museums. I don't think none of that would have been possible if I did not have a renewed interest in trains again. I once was interested when in my youth and early teens but it died for about ten years until I met Harv and Lynne at the MGM hotel in Las Vegas NV where we all worked in the early 1980s. I love history and these Harv Kahn images are important in the legacy of railroading and I want to share them.
Harv shot slide transparencies most of his life except for some early B&W prints when he first started out.
As I mentioned I have created the music for this documentary and also added the narration.
Please let me know how much you like what you see. It would be nice to hear from you if you have been inspired someway after seeing this. Every view puts a smile on Harv's face. This has been a ton of work for me and managing his images is still much work.

Please hit the thumbs up button if you like it. Also, I hope you will subscribe so I can reach a new milepost in subscriber numbers! Maybe all the rail fans can subscribe to me for the hell of it. Spread the word and let's have a rally!
