Nataly’s Corner is proud to feature more music from the 2014 & 2015 Winner of the BWIJ [Black Women in Jazz] award…the incredible smooth soul-sounding and lovely female singer, Toni Redd. If you have visited the Channel before, then you know I previously posted Toni Redd’s version of Footsteps in the Dark on the Channel. As a strong advocate of Women in Jazz, it should be no surprise that I would want to have more of this talented songstress’ music on the Channel.

An “internationally-known powerhouse jazz and R&B entertainer who sings with such intensity” is how Toni Redd is described on her webpage. Music critics say that she has the vocal styles of Singer Phyllis Hyman, mixing a little contemporary R&B, contemporary smooth jazz and classic soul. Toni started out with a love for the guitar before she became interested in singing. Her songwriting skills led her to recording her own music and she released her debut CD, “Straight from the Heart” in 2004 and followed with “Catching the Redd Eye”. Her latest project is appropriately titled “Her Reddness” and is currently rated #5 on SoulTrack/Amazon’s Top Album list. Toni Redd has graced the stage and performed with some top-billing artist that include [but is not limited to] Najee; The Rippingtons; The Temptations; Fattburger; and Angela Bofill, to name a few, and has been featured on the venues of some of the biggest and grandest jazz festivals. Toni Redd has the style, intensity, and tenacity for a long-term Singer. There is no doubt that we will be hearing more from this lovely songbird.
