Hike to Williams Peak, The Vancouver Outdoor Club - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 17, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
Following are some statistics for your information.
The weather was perfect on Friday, Anita and I decided to attempt Williams Peak. This is definitely one of the most spectacular and challenging hikes! It was relentlessly steep all the way.

I knew this would not be an easy hike by all means so I was well prepared again (with a clear preset GPS routes, SOS locator Beacon, headlamps, first aid kit and a scrambling map… )

Left Burnaby at 5 am.
Started the hike at 7:30 am.
Spent 3 hours to reach the ridge – around 8 km from the trailhead.
Got some rest at the ridge.
Then the last 3 km to the peak was the toughest hike – took us 2 hours to reach the peak.
There were a few boulder fields to cross.
The gully was so steep that we needed to stop for every 10-15 steps up.

Hiking Information:
Distance: 20 km
Total Ascent: 1972 m
High Point: 2115 m
Moving Time: 8.5 hours

I refrained from taking videos/photos on the way up. Time is not a friend for this hike. I have some advice.

1. Do not perform solo hike for this peak
2. You need to do it either in August or September and start early in the morning
3. Make sure you go on a sunny day
4. Bring a lot of water
5. This hike is advance level – only for experienced hikers
6. Remember to bring GPS though the trail to the peak was pretty well marked
