I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down and play with Howard Alden in
NYC this summer. Howard is a guitarist I respect tremendously and someone
we can all learn a lot from. His knowledge of Jazz is vast. I wanted to find
out about his way of playing and his take on Gypsy Jazz.

We jammed on 'Djangology' and he gave some great tips on improvising as well
as a cool tip on chord voicings to get the Freddy Green rhythm guitar sound.
I asked him if each of his fingers in fact had independent brains but he referred to
an old teacher who was recommended to him from Barney Kessel, who had got him into
that finger ballet.
