The Pace Report: "The Triple Threat Emcee" The J-Live Interview - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 17, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Since 1996 Emcee, producer, and now label guru J-Live is one of the most consistent and notable indie musicians in Hip-Hop. Out a of a need to take total control of his career both musically and professionally, Justice created Triple Threat Productions where he's reaping the success and benefits of not signing with the major labels. His upcoming project "S.P.T.A.(Said Person of That Ability)" is set to drop in the middle of August. This will be J's 5th full-length recording but riding high on his current EP "Undivided Attention." His new project features production from Korde, Diamond D, and Nicolay of Foreign Exchange.

J-Live was one the many Hip-Hop icons that opened up this year's 7th Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival for the opening event the Show and Prove Super Bowl live at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, New York. Justice was blessed to grace the stage with groups The Artifacts and Camp Lo.
From J-Live's debut single "Longevity" appeared on Mark Farina's "Mushroom Jazz" CD and put the Emcee on the map. Other notable classics like "Hush the Crowd" and "Braggin' Writes" get him noticed by the rap publication The Source where they hailed J as the 'unsigned hype,' a section of the magazine that cites many up-and-coming lyricists that are going to break the scene.

In the midst of him having a new record about to drop titled "The Best Part," recorded from 1995 to 1998, it featured production from the legendary Pete Rock, Prince Paul, and DJ Premier. But due to the politics of the industry and a major label takeover, J's project was shelved and lost in the shuffle. Many bootleg copies surfaced over the years but in 2001 he released it on his imprint Triple Threat Productions.

Over the last decade he's had to work hard to get his music out to the masses as well as wear many shoes as a DJ, Emcee, producer, and running a record label full-time. He continues to release mix-tapes and EPs that feature new and budding talent. To order J-Live's latest disc or to find out his upcoming tour dates please visit him on the web at j-livemusic.com.
