A Reggae song about time travel. Inspired from an African lady who used to play music with a comb by the Brixton Tube station in the 90’s. Lolly Brown is the African lady's ancestor who travels in time from 1899 to 1993, to bring back her story as a mime in front of her classroom in 1899.

Lyrics - Lolly Brown (Thierry Deneux)

This is the story of Lolly Brown
Who never had taken the underground
Until one day her teacher said
Go and find a story to tell today

On her way back home, on the floor she found
One-day travel card to another land
She picks it up and disappears
From 1899 to 1993

Qu’est ce que c’est?

She reappears in this other World
Brixton Station, little Rasta girl
Then she got freaked out by the Jesus Man
Shouting through the speakers:
“Do you understand?”

No one seems to see her, she’s transparent
Like the smoke of the incense floating in the air
Calling the Big Issue Man that couldn’t hear
She called another Man but he was drinking a beer

And she said

A woman singing music through a comb
She looks into her eyes smiling all along
She tells her come and sit by my side
And gives her a picture of Lolly Brown’s village

That how Lolly went back to her home, home sweet home
She took back in her time this lovely song
And the next day at school she could mime
Something they’ve never seen in 1899

And she sings
