Early expat band "The Typhoons" - Taiwan 1984 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 23, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
The guys in the band met while studying Chinese in Taipei in the early '80s. At first we were called "The Vespas" and were part of a new wave/punk dance scene in Taipei, even though dancing was illegal under Marshall law. Sing Song Records got us to record an album of originals in Mandarin and English and we changed our name to "The Typhoons". Featured in this video from a TV variety show are two of the songs from the album: "Nianqingde Ai (Young Love)" and "Changfade Guniang (Long-haired Girl)".

The band: Locksley R. - vocals, Lanny Waugh - guitar, Kurt Henry - drums, Peter O'Dwyer - bass, Alan Scheinfeld - keyboards.
