The Twisters - Heartless (1979) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 14, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
The Twisters originated in the South Bay area of Los Angeles in the late 70's, founded by Brit rocker Mike Wainwright and his American counterpart, Fred Grabert. Their presence on the emerging New Wave scene earned them some spots on a Rhino Records compilation of the best bands in L.A, which resulted in a Rhino Records Twisters EP. Regulars on the L.A. club circuit, the band scored a management deal with Paul Rothchild (Doors, Janis Joplin, Outlaws, Bonnie Raitt) and Aaron Russo (Bette Midler, Manhattan Transfer) which led to their inclusion in the Heather Locklear/Scott Baio film "Zapped". In the film the band performed several songs, all recorded at the Electra annex. The Twisters had a minor hit with a cover of The Supremes' "Where Did Our Love Go", then released an original through a new management team on the Good/MCA Label. During the course of their career, the band performed with notables such as The Fabulous Thunderbirds, John Hiatt, Berlin, Quiet Riot and The Troggs.

This song can be heard in episode 106, "Endgame" of the Carrie Diaries on The CW.
