Carry On Disarming: The Three Johns - Never and Always (1989) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 26, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
CND and NME put out a VHS video in 1989 to raise funds for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and it's campaign against Trident; Many rare and interesting leftfield musical gems on this tape, which I shall be digitising in full course; This is the nineteenth track - by The Three Johns.

From the back of the VHS Box:
"Obsessed with the notion of a national symbol of our military strength, dear old Blighty is erecting the Trident Missile in an attempt to restore some masculine pride to our nuclear capabilities.

Clocking in at around £9billion, Trident is the most expensive piece of military tackle in Western Europe. It's been funded at the obvious expense of basic public services which, stripped of subsidy, are then slapped into the cold hands of private industry.

The plot thickens as cruise missiles, already banished from the land, are invited back to assume seemingly impossible positions in sea and air. Amidst laughter and tears, meanwhile, the Trident weapon finally reveals its secret impotence and fails to raise itself more than 4 inches above sea level whenever our US partners get it out for inspection.

Building a military tool that doesn't work to fire at an enemy that doesn't exist naturally poses a moral question: Would we rather spend public funds on a completely useless weapon or on nursing our hospitals back to health?

Providing you're not looking for a logical answer, to the question, this riotously entertaining British farce is for you.
Carry on disarming..."
