Always (from the album 'Chaos in Symmetry' by The Arkham Rebellion) - Video

DESCRIPTION:
I am not uploading The Arkham Rebellion back-catalogue as part of my music production series, most of it was recorded before I learnt a lot of the important stuff and before I had bought most of my best equipment. The main problem with not knowing about EQ space and proper mixing techniques is that the kick gets lost really easily, especially as it's a 80's style metal kick rather than the modern tight bass/click kind.
The double album Symmetry in Chaos/Chaos in Symmetry was recorded in 2004-6 so virtual drums certainly weren't what they are today, and I was yet to understand how every instrument had its place in the EQ spectrum. Still, I am probably most proud of these songs as being some of the best I've written so far. Although I still had a lot to learn about mixing, I think there's a certain warmth coming through some of the analogue kit that is missing in some of my later production.
For those that are interested:
Guitars recorded on a Korg AX-1000 pedal as impulses were not invented yet
Strings were Garritan Personal Orchestra - if you can't afford the wonders of EWQLSO then you can't go wrong with Garritan, best $100 you'll spend on a full orchestra.
Finally, this rhapsody is a tribute to Joseph Merrick, The Elephant Man. It takes only a few minutes of reading about him to change the way you will think about your own life.
