Sweet d'Buster was a Dutch pop group that excisted between 1975 and 1981 .
The group was founded in 1975 by saxophonist Bertus Borgers . Borgers had been touring in the United States ​​with the Golden Earring . After returning to the Netherlands Bertus was offered a recording contract after presenting a demo which he had made in 1974 with members of the Golden Earring and The Paay Sisters. For his new band he "stole" Herman Deinum(bass) and Hans la Faille (drums), both from Cuby and the Blizzards and Robert Jan Stips (keyboards and vocals) as well. Stips already made a successful career as frontman of Supersister and keyboardplayer for the Golden Earring. At this all-star line-up guitarist Paul Smeenk was being added. Also percussionist brother Bogaart was briefly a member of the band, but soon moved on to form his own band.

In 1976, the debut LP appeared Sweet d'Buster , which also became the band's name. Although the album sales was disappointing, the band quickly grew into a popular live act, thanks to its reputation as a supergroup . In 1978 the second album Friction was released, which unlike the debut, has been selling well. Borgers meanwhile built brand awareness with his involvement in the LPs Sphritsz and Cha Cha of Herman Brood . Broods hit Still Believe is a composition of Borgers and Smeenk of which the original can be heard on this album, Friction .
