DESCRIPTION:
The Nashboro label put out some of the finest gospel music ever recorded. "Step By Step" was the title track from the Swanee Quintet's 1966 album, with backing by the James Brown band. That year the Swanee Quintet toured the US and Europe as the opening act for James Brown. This connection goes back to their first meeting when the godfather of soul was working outside radio station WGAC where the group had their afternoon radio broadcast, and extends to their performing at his homegoing service.
