DESCRIPTION:
describes tools used and shows how to measure length and and angles of violin sound post, using Sound Post Mate tools.
The gauge consists of two parts.
1 Main Body and 2, spring loaded slider inside the body and held together by friction. In application, ( By pulling on two ends) the gauge is set slightly longer than expected Sound Post length. Using a suitable tool (here our model PRO2-Plus) the gauge is introduced towards highest point inside the violin sound box and then carefully maneuvered towards the spot intended for the sound post. The gauge now assumes the length of the sound post. Then the gauge is moved back towards the high point inside the violin sound box, tool is tilted and withdrawn showing the length of the sound post.
The PRO-Plus inserting tool is used to more accurately define sound post position. The handle arm extension is lowered to show position of the top of the gauge.
VSP-G3 MASTER GAUGE includes a swivel cap at one end, and this follows contour of violin sound box.Thus will show angle at contact point.
Length and contact angles are transferred to CUTTING BLOCK, then sound post blank can be mounted and trimmed to exact length and contact angle.
