The Skalinskis VS Koyaanisquatsi - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 04, 2008
DESCRIPTION:
Alright, this isn't an origional video of sorts, it's more the result of too much time and not much to do.

I the film-maker watched "koyaanisquatsi" years ago while studying film at college, I've always thought it would be good to use scenes from it mixed up randomly as a visual-psychological experiment. While I was bored I decided to have a practice using the skalinskis 'assasin' as the musical score. One of the guys from the band came over for a cup of tea and liked the basis of what I was messing with, so much in fact that he suggested that I put it live on the net for others to see. His idea was to publish it as a homage to the origional film, replacing Phillip Glass's superb musical score with a modern ska inspired track but leaving Godfrey Reggio's cinematography intact only altering the timing a locations of the shots.

So I am proud to present a different interpretation of Reggio and Glass's 1982 masterpiece 'koyanisquatsi', brought to the year 2008 using the skalinski track 'assasin' (available on their new album "Ba-Da-Boom!" available online at itunes).

I hope you enjoy. Credit to where it's due.... I did not use my own camera for any part of this video, every shot is from koyanisquatsi, I didn't do the music either.... all I did was edit the two together.

Enjoy!
