"All the gods, they cannot sever us. If I were dead and you stood fighting for life I'd come back from the darkness, back from the pit of Hell to fight at your side."

This scene has a lot of meaning behind it that seems to escape most viewers. It's not just a beautiful panorama with Arnold Schwarzenegger swinging around a sword that looks good with beautiful music playing. There's thought behind it.
Conan looks at his fist. He is still thinking about what Thulsa Doom told him just before he was crucified.
"Steel isn't strong, boy, flesh is stronger."
He's thinking about it, weighing it, considering it. He weighs it against what his father told him.
"The secret of steel has always carried with it a mystery. You must learn its riddle, Conan. You must learn its discipline. For no one—no one in this world can you trust, not men, not women, not beasts—this you can trust."
This dilemma is actually Conan's principal religious quest. To answer the Riddle of Steel.
Fist, sword, fist, Conan thinks. And we the audience are not told what his answer is...
Only that he is thinking. And that he has died and still does not have the answer. And that he has died and is still seeking the answer...
