sun a.k.a. The Real Sun

sun is a poet, singer/songwriter, and visual artist that expresses her soul through the arts.



As a multitalented and all-around artist, sun crafts and expresses her thoughts, dreams and emotions through words, voice, piano, guitar, and canvas. sun has been expressing her voice through song since the of age 8, crafting words into poetry since the age of 10, and creating musical compositions and songwriting since age 14. In high school, sun started to formulate her page poetry into rap, and soon thereafter poured her heart into transforming her passionate prose into spoken word.



For sun, music is a healing form of release. Originally born in Korea, she is a strong advocate for balance, healing and humanitarianism. she pays particular attention to her lyrics, always making a conscious effort to embody a positive message, no matter how negative the topic may be. This is at the core of all of sun's work, whether it is visual art, music or poetry.



sun has two passions: (1)the arts and (2)building positive change. She combines the two as much as possible, and as a result, sun has devoted much of her energy and soul into many grassroots movements and community organizations in the Jane-Finch, York and Korean Communities in Toronto that aim to create positive change and build solidarity.



sun's first artistic outlet was visual arts. sun has created moving pieces in water colour, acrylic paint, ink, among others; each piece molding a deep message and holding an enlightening purpose
On stage, sun draws you in with her warmth and powerful energy and then takes you on a journey of spoken word, soulful melodies, and inspirational lyrics. Her performances range in composition from full-piece band, self-accompaniment on piano and guitar, to bumping Hip-Hop instrumentals or even acapella. All of her lyrics are self-written and her acoustic songs are self-composed, ranging in genre from Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Spoken Word to Folk/Rock.
sun has lit up many stages in venues around Toronto as well as in Kingston, New York, California, and South Korea. And has been featured on several radio and media outlets.
sun released her debut Hip-Hop album titled 'RISE' in summer of 2008. The songs were self-written and album art was self-designed. sun is currently working on her second album, to be composed of Deep Soul, R&B and Spoken Word. While in incubation developing her next project, sun continues to impress audiences with her moving live performances.
