Here's a super easy guitar riff for beginners and a great power chord rock song - Iron Man by Black Sabbath. One of the most iconic riffs of all time, and the birth of heavy metal! Black Sabbath are essentially the Beatles of the heavy metal world, they changed everything!

Get ready for Power Chords! If power chords are still a little tricky for you, you definitely want to learn this one! After you learn this Beginner Guitar Riff, power chords will be significantly easier. This song is the ultimate power chord ass kicker.

When you get up to the 9th and 10th fret power chords, take your time. This is the fastest section of the song, so make sure you learn it slowly. Once you can play it at slug speed, then start speeding it up. Don’t just immediately try to play those power chords at full speed. Patience is essential here!

The nice thing about this beginner guitar riff, is that we stay on one string. It’s just a matter of sliding that shape around. What will become obvious to you while learning this riff, is that the fret size changes significantly while you go up the neck. You have to make small adjustments on your power chord as you move it up to the smaller frets!

Ironman is off of Black Sabbath’s album Paranoid. Paranoid came out in 1970, and is a must have record for the rock or metal fan. Obviously, Black Sabbath have plenty of amazing records, but I would recommend you start with Paranoid if you haven’t listened to a Sabbath album in it’s entirety! Paranoid is a perfect album start to finish.

Yours truly! Will Ripley (Campfire Guitar Star)
