DESCRIPTION:
.whole movie 2 hrs..“Girl George & the Arizona Star”~ Tour with Dr. Hook 1973 ~..What I remember about touring with Dr.Hook.. was Nineyear ..(the road manager) would pin notes on us before getting on the plane in the morning saying which planes we should be on that day & where we were going..Everyone in the Band & Girl George & the Arizona Star..got a note..Hell we never Knew where we were going..But Nineyear did...Pretty much the same thing every day ..they would get us up real early..after not getting enough sleep..Put us on a plane..(sometimes 2 or 3 plane changes during the trip)..we get to the New town..Dennis & ray..would go off to the radio station to do an interview..Promo the Show..the rest of us would go to the Hotel take a shower..get ready for the show that night..then they would take us to the auditorium,stadium or Racetrack we'd be playing that night... It was so cool ..Dr.Hook was riding on their new Big hit "Cover of the Rolling Stone"..so they were playing 1st.or 2nd...Bill to Chuck Berry..Stevie wonder..Black Oak Ark..Rare Earth..Bonnie & Dalaney..Toto..ect..Big Touring Shows with five named acts on each bill..And there was "Girl George & the Arizona star" right in the Middle of Dr.Hooks Show... In the Middle of their show Dennis would say "we were at a party last night & we ran into a couple of Army Buddy's of ours,They wanted to Jam with us..So here the are "George & the Arizona Star"...

when we 1st met in 1970 S.F.in a play"The Potboilers" in which we were All CATS.. (This was Long before the Famous Play "CATS).. produced &written by Monty Pike...I had Been in the Play a few yrs Before.. When he started doing it again He wanted me back in it..
I said if My Band "Summer Rain" Could play on the intermission.
.I'd do it.. Well this time.a 20 yr old Christina Yakobian.. was in the play.. When my band played & I drug everyone up on stage to sing back up..(as I always do) Chris came up & stayed with my band for 3 yrs.. at Enricos one nite we were in the bathroom..
Chris said "I need a new Name" everyone is named Chris..
I Looked up at the wallpaper.. It Said "Superstar" all over it..
I said "How about *STAR" that became her name.
Then when we went to Nashville the next yr.1971..
She added Arizona..where she was from..
(Though she was Born in OHIO.)..
Arizona Star was a Double Gemini..with at least four different Personalities,that she would float seamlessly from one to the other..There was Of course Marilyn Monroe..
Shirley Temple (at age 5)..Mae West..Betty Davis..
She was always Very Light & Amusing.
.She Made me Laugh..She'd tell me
"Why tell the Truth..When a Lie Makes a Better Story"..
She was always Telling Elaborate Colorful Story's..
She was at Her best at the Pancake Man..after Hours..
Nashville.. All the Session Musicians..were there to eat.. Everyone would Gather around our Table as Star would put on Make up
on top of Make up ( Lips Stick..Powder) & Talk & Spin these
Fantastic Stories.~Tales of things that had happen when I was There with her....
But I could Hardly Recognize..through Her Retelling..
We were Ying & Yang~Different as Nite & Day.
.I am a Scorpio & I wore a 3ft. Sword on my hip..
Velvet & Knee Hi Black Pirate Boots (I never wore Make up).
.Girlgeo played Guitar Sang lead..,Wrote songs.
.was Leader of the Band.
Arizon Star . Played Tambourine Kazoo ~,Maracas..& sang Harmony back up ~ Danced around~ wrote songs..Arizona star Was Always Half Naked..Bangles & Beads.Up & down her Arms & on her Neck..Tons of Make Up..(she wanted to Be a moviestar ala Marilyn Monroe Not a Rockstar That Was My Thing) But she went along for the Ride..And what a Long Amazing Ride it Was...
