BIOGRAPHY
Nearly everyone agrees. When you hear him sing, the phrase that comes to mind is "Smooth as silk." His voice and style are the reasons why friends have nicknamed him "T.J. Smooth."
Paul B Allen, III was born in Omaha, Nebraska, but raised in San Bernardino, California. He has been involved in music virtually all of his life. Paul became the lead singer of the band,"Raw Sugar" a group established by his younger brothers, Corey and Milo. In a very short time, the band developed a tremendous following in the Southern California area.
Some time after the "Raw Sugar" days, ex-James Brown saxophonist, Dr. Larry "T-Byrd" Gordon, heard Paul singing and was "knocked out" by his smooth vocal phrasing. T-Byrd immediately asked Paul to join his band. As a lead singer for "T-Byrd's" band, Paul performed for the rich and famous in Texas, including former Presidential candidate, Ross Perot, multi-millionaire Paul Bass, and The Dallas cowboy Cheerleaders. However, it was a great thrill to be invited to Monte-Carlo to perform for Prince Albert and Princess Caroline in 1995, and after returning from Monte-Carlo, to be invited to perform at The White House for President Bill Clinton.
In November of 2001 Paul performed for the Royal Family in England.
In March of 1998, Paul was asked by the original management company of THE PLATTERS to become the newest member of that original group. From that time until the present, Paul has led the group in performances on nearly every continent of the globe. He loves to perform, and has enjoyed entertaining everyone from "small town America" to Princes, Presidents and Kings.
Paul, Julie, Joel and Curtis have been hailed as the best of any "Platters" group performing today.
Paul has performed at many prestigious venues, including the world famous Kennedy Center, accompanied by The National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Marvin Hamlisch. Paul is also a veteran of TV and Radio performances and interviews, both here and abroad.
In addition, Paul is also an internationally published songwriter. He began writing songs professionally at age 23. He has had over 30 artists record his music, including Jazz artists like Wayne Henderson (The Crusaders), drum legend Billy Cobham, Latin great Willie Bobo, and English Jazz Fusion group, Incognito.
In the R&B genre, artists who have recorded his songs include Side Effect, song stylist Miki Howard, Arthur Adams, Johnny Reasons, Bernie Hamilton, David Oliver, and The McRarys.
Paul's songs have also been recorded by three top Divas of Dance Music, Martha Walsh, Jocelyn Brown and Grace Jones. His song "Such A Good Feeling," recorded by "Brothers In Rhythm," reached 1 on Billboard's Dance Chart, and his song "Always There" recorded by "Incognito" featuring Jocelyn Brown, reached 6 on Billboard's Top Ten Charts in England, number 20 in Germany and number 1 in The Netherlands. And we can't forget the stellar job by the group Charvoni in the late 1980's early 1990's.
"Always There" and "Such A Good Feeling" continue to be covered and remixed by Dance artists like Imhoof of The Netherlands, DJ Misbehavin of England (whose version of "Such A Good Feeling" was nominated for the coveted Brit Award in 2004), and most recently, by a group that may have come up with the most slamming version yet, UK group, DNA.
Paul has recorded an album of new original songs. In the Jazz / R&B genre, the title of the CD is "What's On Your Mind?" and it was recorded in Australia. Some of the most talented musicians in Australia participated in the project. It is an album of duets with the great Australian singer, Mary-Anne Sterling. The CD is receiving rave reviews on both continents.
In 2006, Paul was recruited by the Billy Richard's Coasters and now does double duty as lead singer of The World Famous Platters, and vocalist with The Coasters, a unique situation in the world of music.
A true renaissance man, Paul also enjoys the world of Acting. He has worked on the movies LETHAL WEAPON 4 starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, RUSH HOUR 2 starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, UNDISPUTED, starring Wesley Snipes, Ving Rhames and Peter Falk, and MISS CONGENIALTY 2, starring Sandra Bullock.
Paul has also done commercials for THE HISTORY CHANNEL, UPS, and THE STATION CASINOS in Las Vegas, NV. He was most recently the "spokesperson" in a heavily run commercial for Nevada Federal Credit Union.
Paul continues to write music and is helping young artists by co-writing music with them. One of his latest projects is with Swiss artist Angie Ott. Together they wrote the moving song, "Mother Earth (Take A Picture)" which can be heard on You Tube. Angie is now in London re-recording the song and doing a new video for it.

THE PLATTERS LIVE IN TOKYO

Hi,
I am Paul B Allen, III, of THE FORMER LEAD VOCALISTS OF THE BUCK RAM PLATTERS, and I would like to introduce a fine young singer/songwriter from Switzerland named Angie Ott. Angie is singing a song that she and I co-wrote together this year. It is named "MOTHER EARTH (TAKE A PICTURE)." The most excellent video for the song was created by Esther B, and the three of us hope you love the song and the message contained within.
