Milonga Isleña (2008) - A Cappella Choir - Ernesto Cordero - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 23, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Milonga Isleña was written for mixed (SATB) a cappella choir, polyphony and homophony are combined in its texture. The work is inspired in the Puerto Rican traditional dance, seis milonga, which is united with its familiar Argentinean counterpart. The text is mainly done in a syllabic or onomatopoeian writing. The composer uses words only at the beginning and the enf of the piece, a strategy discerned to fit the milonga rhythm. Milonga Isleña (Milonga sin palabras) was premiered by Orfeón San Juan Bautista at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, November 19, 2008 New York City. Conductor Guarionex Morales Matos and Daniel Alejandro Tapia Santiago.
