When our friends at the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough took us on a walking tour of our town a few months ago and showed us the Hughes Academy, we knew we had to do a session there. The one-room schoolhouse, originally established in 1845 in Cedar Grove, NC, was preserved and relocated to the site it sits on today in Hillsborough in 1993.

With a new record coming out on Yep Roc Records this summer, we thought The Old Ceremony would be the perfect fit for the space. They hung out with us one afternoon and played a few new tunes, including “Go Dark.”
