DESCRIPTION:
This song is for every Newfoundlander who has had to leave the home they will always love...:)
Return To The Sea
My grandparents lived
at the oceans front door
you can't get much closer
but I'd take some more
it's not that I saw you everyday
it's that I can't see you again
My grammy she'd run out
of firewood sometimes
and the sea would say "Here my dear,
take some of mine."
I wish I could smell
that old driftwood burn
in that little old house by the shore
Some nights when the ocean
Would reach out for more
my dad he could hear it knockin
on his front door
just a small boy looking outside
when he should be in bed
but he'd rather look outside instead
Chorus
Our lives were simpler
it was easy to see
was it youth we had to thank
or the place we should be?
what I'd give for that feeling
just for today
even just for one day
My flashes of moments
of sunsets and moons
shine softly on water
so beautiful blue
stay here in my heart
forever with me
until I return to the sea
It was so nice to grow up
in the heart of the bay
because the water it was never
too far away
and what's part of a history
is still a part of me
and that's how it always will be
Chorus
Our lives were simpler
it was easier to see
was it youth we had to thank
or the place we should be
what I'd give for that feeling
just for today
even just for one day
