The Ballad of Lucky Lucan - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 13, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
Song written after reports of Lord Lucan being seen on the Limpopo river. Obviously complete hokum, but seemed like an interesting story. I'd call the genre "twisted bedsit", with a nod to the music hall influences of Lionel Bart and Ray Davies. I used my own footage shot in London, live shots from The Halfmoon Putney mixed with various historical Kenyan Happy Valley material, through which the Limpopo clearly doesn't flow, but it seemed to fit with the English/African theme. I used very little actual Lucan material, hopefully nobody sues me, although that would probably be a good problem to have. Recorded in London by Chris Letcher who also played keys and arranged strings, with Yoyo Buys on bass. Thanks to Soundbible for the cicadas, and Tamsyn Adams for the Half Moon shots.
