"The Kick Inside" Kate Bush (solo, acoustic cover) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 21, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
My arrangement of Kate's piano piece, the title track from her first album, "The Kick Inside" is several keys lower than the original (that I found to begin in F# major with capo at second fret) and also the guitar is tuned down a full step to DGCFAD. The nylon strings couldn't go any lower without sounding too slack.
Even still I had to drop the octave at one part. So this is very much my own rendition, a live solo tribute to Kate and I dont sound anything like her obviously!!! haha. But I do love and respect her music very much...

This song is about the tragic character Ophelia from William Shakespeare's play "Hamlet". She was said to have gone insane over divided loyalties and there is some allusion to her having an incestous relationship with her brother. In the play, Ophelia goes mad and dressed in garlands of flowers and leaves climbs up a Willow branch singing and the branch breaks and she drowns in a stream. Many artists have found inspiration in the image of her madness and death; seen in the images here.
