Jonathan Howe - The Musical Influences of Dream Theater (Pt. 1) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 05, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Learning where musical geniuses got the inspiration for their works has always been a favorite hobby of mine, and since DT is my favorite band ever, I thought I'd dedicate a video to some of the nods they've given to their own musical heroes. Obviously this vid is not meant in any way to accuse Dream Theater of being unoriginal or ripping off other works; it's simply meant to show how all music has to come from somewhere and if you look hard enough and listen closely, you'll find that even the most original artists of our time have roots in the music that came before them.

Obviously I do not own any of this music or any of the bands who wrote it (though that would be pretty cool, wouldn't it?) But alas, Dream Theater belongs to Dream Theater, Rush belongs to Rush, Pink Floyd belongs to David Gilmour...

All the pictures were found online, including the wonderful pics of James Labrie's face photobombing DT album covers. Those all came from the FaceBook page Meme Theater (they have an entire folder of several hundred pictures of just Photobombing James), and you should definitely check them out! Can't we all use a Dream Theater humor break to lift up our mood sometimes?
