Live! Folklife Concert: The Homegrown String Band (Peggy-O) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 12, 2017
DESCRIPTION:
The Homegrown String Band has been performing together for over 20 years. Rooted in the music of rural string and jug bands of the 1920s and '30s, this real family band from Long Island uses an assortment of instruments–including guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, banjo ukulele, mountain dulcimer, harmonica, and jaw harp–to also perform their own original songs with a nod to blues, bluegrass, jazz and rock 'n roll. "Their devotion to their craft and way of life is obvious. This family is breathing fresh life into the American folk tradition at a time when our nation's roots are so often forgotten." -Sarah Craig/Caffe Lena
