Crimson Rambler Rag by Harry Austin Tierney, 1911 - Video

DESCRIPTION:
Here's one you don't hear every day. Indeed, I've only heard one person play this other than myself. (It was Eric Marchese.)

I had mentioned in one of my "Unfinished / Abandoned Compositions" videos that I could kinda-sorta play one of the examples of classic rags that change to the flatted sixth instead of to the subdominant at the Trio (i.e., adding four flats to the key signature instead of one).

So I thought I'd record it for example. I can never play anything without major screwups somewhere (and always somewhere different each time; you'll even see me throw up my hands in disgust at one point as I screw up the simplest section). This take had the fewest screwups of several that I did last night. I've never claimed to be a pianist!
