The Hangman’s Beautiful Daughter do not believe in ghosts though occasionally, one plays with them. Or so they’ve been told.

They started out as solo singer-songwriters and sometime in 2005 - or 2006 - they became a band. They’re not really sure when it happened.

Drawing on the influences of folk rock, “unplugged” grunge, and country, they create music that is earthy, minimalist, broken, redemptive, and emotionally unstable. They also harmonize well.

“if I should stumble” is their first album as The Hangman’s Beautiful Daughter. They released it in 2007 with producer Armand Petri (The Goo Goo Dolls, Sixpence None the Richer, 10,000 Maniacs, etc.). In 2004, Steve released “beautiful addiction,” a solo project with Armand that Meredith helped craft and sang on.

Along with their own music, the band likes to include favorites by artists they admire. This includes Counting Crows, Sheryl Crow, Lori McKenna, Tom Petty, Ryan Adams, Deathcab for Cutie, Blitzen Trapper, Fleet Foxes, Johnny Cash and some other more obscure bands.
