THE GYPSY SONS are known for being a hot, hard working, powerful rock and roll machine. Their soulful blend and style with lyrics like, "there ain't no coming back from the wrong side of the tracks," lives with you long after you first hear them and serves to show that this band is all about connecting with their audience. 50 million worldwide record selling producer Beau Hill mixed and mastered t.he track for their debut video "Wrong Side Of The Tracks." The Gypsy Sons just recorded a few tracks in Nashville with legendary songwriter Sam Tate and epic outlaw country record producer Pat Holt. They also have 2 songs placed in the upcoming movie "Kin" starring Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde. The Hammer up front and on point leading the way, Eric King's swirling blues guitar, John Gies' punctuating bass lines and Dave Maguire's precision, pounding 'n percolating create a viceral soundscape that keeps their ever-expanding fan base coming back for more. The Gypsy Sons released the 15 song rocker "Walking On The Water." Head to iTunes and CD Baby for The Gypsy Sons digital downloads from their first 4 records and be sure to catch them live, in the bars, while you still can.
THE HAMMER - has had numerous successes with his different bands over the years. He's been signed to major labels (MCA Records, Virgin Music, Triple X Records) and has shared the stage and producers with legendary acts such as Tool, RATM, Slayer, Helmet, Blind Melon, Body Count, Jason Aldean, Pinetop Perkins, Soundgarden, Steve Earle, Pearl Jam & Alice in Chains to name just a few. He spent two months in Seattle recording for MCA w/ legendary producer Rick Parashar who also produced Blind Melon, Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog, Pearl Jam and Nickelback. This Virginia boy taps deep into his early childhood violin and saxophone training, to create the soulful guitar riffs and melodies that lay the groundwork for the foot stomping rockers and the sugary sweet ballads. The Hammer is a Roman Catholic Republican rocker that will rock the hell out of you, drink you under the table then run a bubble bath and make pancakes for you afterwards.
JOHN GIES - has performed, wrote and recorded with a variety of original rock bands in the DC area since the early '90's. The most notable, besides The Gypsy Sons, was the Fairfax based band, Olive Bones (1994 – 2001), in which he was one of two primary songwriters en route to recording three LPs with the band. Drawing on an array of influences like the Beatles, the Dead, U2 and Radiohead he offers a more alternative edge to the melodically driven songs that he brings to The Gypsy Sons. His versatile bass playing style provides a unique nuance to the music, while his lead and backing vocals add a third dimension to the already stellar vocal arsenal that The Hammer and Eric King bring to the front.
ERIC KING - started on the local Washington D.C. music scene in the mid 90's. Writing and recording 2 CD's "The Game" and "Shake These Blues," a combination of Rock and Blues influenced music. Eric also has some acting credits, appearing in HBO's "The Wire" and FOX TV's "Americas Most Wanted through Lind Townsend Management. Performing locally with his band The Thin Line 'til 2004, when he partnered up with Gary Thomas to record a country record. Now he rocks balls with The Gypsy Sons. Blues Guitar Man.
DAVE 'D-MAG' MAGUIRE - fell in love with the drums at an early age, the very first time he heard John Bonham. Those powerful, smooth, groove influenced beats would make the hairs on the back of his neck stand straight up. From there the world of percussion became a passion of his, one that he has yet to outgrow. He learned to develop a deep appreciation for many styles of music and has been fortunate to play with many talented artists and bands since the early 90's. He played with Vast Minority and Storm Season in the 90's to name a few and has served as a studio drummer for many years. He credits those experiences for helping him to become well rounded and versatile. He deeply enjoys writing original music and the feeling that emanates from creating. For Dave, a strong believer in dynamics and the impact it has on music, it's all about the song and not how many triplets he can squeeze into a measure. A pure music lover, D-MAG also loves his hometown teams: the Redskins, Nationals and Capitals. He also loves Landscape Design, shooting pool, people and movies. He does not like onions, sand in his pants, slimy green things that smell and Battlefield Earth starring John Travolta. Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome the newest member of The Gypsy Sons, Dave 'D-Mag' Maguire!
