PUBLISHED:  Jul 03, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
This is live music at its best. The ultimate bass line to the ultimate Jam song. From the Jam perform "Down in the Tube Station at Midnight" which was the second single released from The Jam's album "All Mod Cons" in 1978. The song originally charted at No. 15 on the UK Top 40. The song's lyrics tell a story of an unnamed narrator travelling home, who enters a London Underground station at midnight, as he attempts to buy a ticket for his train he is mugged by a group of thugs. The lyrics are sentimental, contrasting the warmth of home and domestic life with the horror of urban decay and violence. The song got banned from the being played on the BBC. Paul Weller originally didn't want the song to appear on the album but was later persuaded that it should be.

This performance comes from the "From the Jam - A 1st Class Return" concert Live at the Forum in December 2007. From the Jam kick off at full speed, each one complimenting the other and the material as fresh as when it was at the top of the UK Charts! They turned a chilly night in North London into a rhythm inferno, and in doing so, rewrite modern world anthems for the 21st century!

From the Jam line up:
Bruce Foxton - Bass Guitar, Acoustic Guitar and Vocals.
Rick Buckler - Drums.
Russell Hastings - Lead Vocals, Guitar and Acoustic Guitar.
Dave Moore - Guitar, Bass, Keyboards and Backing Vocals.
